Below I give an account on how we worshipped at Kabwata Baptist Church on Sunday 10 November 2019 in the morning during a
Special Service for outgoing Grade 7s at Eagles Nest School.
Million Kambuli read from 1 Corinthians 10:31. We then sang the hymn To God be the glory.
John Chundu opened in prayer.
The Grade 7s then sang two songs: We Praise Thee O God and All Hail the Power of Jesus' name.
The congregation then sang 'The Lord's my shepherd, I'll not want and 10,000 reasons'.
Patricia Kabongo the outgoing headgirl gave her testimony of her stay at Eagles Nest. The vote of thanks was given by Mr Ian Silwimba one of the parents. He quoted the poem 'On children' by Kahlil Gibran.
Chipita Sibale one of the pastor's prayed for the children and the Eagles Nest staff.
The Bible reading was given by Kutemwa Filakati the vice head boy.
The grade 7s then sang a song 'There is peace in Christ.'
Voddie Baucham preached God's word from the text: Proverbs 2:16-19 on the subject: 'Wisdom will deliver you.' Wisdom was defined as the righteous application of true knowledge.
The first practical application about wisdom that a son gives to his son is a warning about adultery. Adultery is a multi layered sin. Voddie pointed out three points from the text:
1. Wisdom delivers us. Christ delivers us from adultery. Wisdom delivers us from the wrath of sin and from sin itself.
2. Wisdom delivers from our weakness and sin.
3. Wisdom delivers us from death.
Application (What do we do?)
Parents:
1. Pray for purity.
2. Model purity.
3. Teach purity.
4. Expect purity.
Young people:
1. Pray for purity.
2. Guard your heart.
3. Don't trust your own strength.
To the one who thinks that they are hearing this message too late: Jesus saves to the uttermost. Flee to Christ. Find in Him your all in all.
The grade 7s sang "Amazing Grace" as the closing hymn after which George Sitali closed in prayer.
