I never knew turbulence happens in my part of the world.
It was last night at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola. With other passengers we were on the shuttle taking us to board Mahogany Air. When we thought we were about to disembark and board the plane the aircraft officials informed us that we would board the plane late due to the storms. The plane had to take a longer route to avoid the storms.
We finally boarded the plane 20 minutes after the scheduled departure time. We had a bumpy ride with quite a bit of turbulence. The children on the flight (mostly below 5) would scream. I did know whether to laugh or be concerned. But It was not an appropriate time for laughter. Meal services were suspended due to the bad weather. I felt for the cabin crew who have to inspire and make passengers feel comfortable and safe when they themselves could be bearing onward fears. All in all we landed safely at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka 45 minutes later. I am grateful to God for the safe travel and being reunited to my family.
